A Responsible Supplier is a person, company or business that manufacturers in-scope electrical equipment in Australia or New Zealand, or imports in scope electrical equipment into Australia or New Zealand for sale in participating jurisdictions.
All Responsible Suppliers must be registered on the National Database to sell equipment in participating jurisdictions.
When registering on the National Database, Responsible Suppliers are to ensure that their details that are contained on the database are current. Penalties apply if it is found that Responsible Supplier details on the National Database are not current.
Penalties also apply if a Responsible Supplier is found to be supplying level 3 or level 2 electrical equipment that is not registered on the database.
All Level 2 and Level 3 electrical equipment must be registered on the National Database by a Responsible Supplier.
Level 3 electrical equipment requires a valid and current Certificate of Conformity before the item can be registered on the National Database.
Significant penalties apply if a Responsible Supplier is found to have supplied false or misleading information. Penalties may also include cancellation of registration as a Responsible Supplier.
