Level 1 – Requirements

  • Print

Responsible Suppliers of Level 1 equipment must provide a declaration that all equipment they are supplying meets relevant standards and is electrically safe. This is part of the Responsible Supplier’s Declaration and can only be completed by the Responsible Supplier when first registering on the National Database.

A Responsible Supplier is to register the brand and “type” of level 1 equipment but is not required to list or register Level 1 equipment models on the National Database (but may voluntarily enter the equipment). However, the Responsible Supplier must hold and have ready access to evidence the equipment meets relevant standards and is electrically safe. This evidence must be made available to regulators upon request.  Evidence may include internal reports or tests conducted by the manufacturer or supplier.

All Level 1 electrical equipment offered for sale by registered responsible suppliers must be marked with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM). Further information on labelling of items with the RCM can be found in the AS/NZS 4417.1.
