ERAC's strategies
To reflect the regulatory environment and best achieve ERAC’s objectives of
coordination and effective representation, the council meetings focus on a
number of specialist areas:
-
general
policy matters such as legislation, regulatory strategies, reviews of
incidents, accident prevention programs and safety promotion strategies;
-
consumer electrical installation safety, inspection policies
and standards;
-
electrical equipment safety, certification policies and standards,
including appliance energy efficiency (the latter through a cooperative
working arrangement with the national Equipment Energy Efficiency
Committee, E3);
-
licensing
of various types of electrical workers, contractors and related policies;
and
-
technical and safety regulation of electricity supply covering
issues that are relevant to public, consumer and electrical worker safety,
as well as consumer protection in respect of quality of supply.
