ERAC's strategies

To reflect the regulatory environment and best achieve ERAC’s objectives of coordination and effective representation, the council meetings focus on a number of specialist areas:

  • general policy matters such as legislation, regulatory strategies, reviews of incidents, accident prevention programs and safety promotion strategies;
  • consumer electrical installation safety, inspection policies and standards;
  • electrical equipment safety, certification policies and standards, including appliance energy efficiency (the latter through a cooperative working arrangement with the national Equipment Energy Efficiency Committee, E3);
  • licensing of various types of electrical workers, contractors and related policies; and
  • technical and safety regulation of electricity supply covering issues that are relevant to public, consumer and electrical worker safety, as well as consumer protection in respect of quality of supply.
