ERAC Structure

The work of ERAC is divided into five focus areas to reflect the current strategies of ERAC and the electrical industry.

Each focussed meeting session is run by a session Chairperson, with a coordinating Chairperson overseeing the general activities of the council.  Chairpersons are elected by the council and change from time to time.

The sessions and current session Chairs are:

·              General - Peter Lamont, Electrical Safety Office, Queensland (also current coordinating Chairperson)

·              Installations and inspections – Rob Faunt, Office of the Technical Regulator, South Australia

·              Equipment safety – Peter Morfee, Energy Safety Service, New Zealand

·              Licensing – Ken Gardner, Energy Safe Victoria, Victoria

·              Supply – Albert Koenig, Energy Safety Western Australia

Reporting arrangements

As ERAC’s regulatory activities cover a wide spectrum, the Council does not have a fixed relationship with specific government or industry bodies.

ERAC therefore liaises with various Ministerial Councils (or their Standing Committees), government departments, industry bodies and industry associations as appropriate to achieving its mission.

Each ERAC member agency has the relevant executive or statutory authority for making policy decisions, subject to varying degrees of Ministerial oversight.

Special working groups with industry and government representatives are established for specific projects, when necessary.
