Our commitment to your privacy

The Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) is made up of representatives of the regulatory authorities responsible for electrical safety, supply and energy efficiency in New Zealand and the Australian States, Territories and Commonwealth.

ERAC is the body responsible for the harmonisation of Australian and New Zealand electrical regulatory functions.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and ensuring you are comfortable in supplying us with your personal information.

We are also committed to complying with the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) which govern the management of your personal information.

Your privacy

ERAC is committed to protecting user privacy. Like other public sector agencies, ERAC is required to comply with eleven (11) Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) contained in the Information Privacy Act 2009, (IPS Act) that set out how personal information must be collected and managed.

Cookies

A ‘cookie’ is a small file sent to your computer when you visit our website. When you visit our website again, the cookie provides us with information about your interactions within our website. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some of our website features or services may not function properly without cookies.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Complaints/inquiries

If you wish to make a complaint or inquiry to a particular state regulator you can do so by sending an email or calling them. Contact details for individual state regulators.

In the case of complaints, we require information such as your name, organisation and address so we can contact you to discuss the matter.

If you do not wish to provide this information by email you should use one of the other means of contacting us. While the risk of anyone intercepting and misusing information transmitted by email is usually very low, you should be aware that a determined individual with the right skills may be able to do this.

Embedded content from other websites
